I found these beauties on 1st Dibs this morning! Designed by Bengt Edenfalk for Skruf Glassworks Sweden. Both are signed by the artisan and dated, 1962. I really love how the spun glass wraps an inner vessel. Sort of reminds me of those yummy French pastries, Croquembouche.
Skruf is still very active today. Their website says they are located in the Kingdom of Crystal. And as you might have imagined, all of their glass products are hand blown and have been since they were founded in 1897. Here’s what I found out about the artisan, Bengt Edenfalk. He was hired as the company’s designer in the mid-1950s. He’s been extremely prolific over the years designing 70 different place settings. For a time he also worked for Orrefors. More than thirty years ago, he started a new company called Kosta Glassworks, today known as Kosta Boda. I found additional images attributed to him via google search. Many just a breathtaking as these vases below.
Believe it or not, 1st Dibs has these vases for sale for ONLY $35. Personally, I think they’re worth so much more!
